Cenacolo di Sant'Apollonia
Firenze
In 1447, Andrea del Castagno painted a fresco on the wall of the monastery refectory depicting the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, the Deposition and the Resurrection. The museum also displays other detached frescoes by Andrea del Castagno with related preparatory drawings, and paintings by Paolo Schiavo and Neri di Bicci, coming from the monastery. The museum occupies part of the ancient Benedictine monastery of St. Apollonia, founded in 1339 and enlarged in the fifteenth century.
