The museum Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia is housed in the Charity complex composed by the Church of Santa Maria della Carità, the Scuola Grande della Carità (the oldest in Venice), and the Convent of the Canons Lateranensi designed in 1561 by Andrea Palladio.

The museum is home to the most important collection of Venetian paintings from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century , which includes some masterpieces such as "La Tempesta" by Giorgione, "La Pietà" by Tiziano, "The Life of Saint Ursula" cycle by Carpaccio from the homonymous school and "Il Convito in casa di Levi "by Veronese.

The Department of Prints and Drawings of the Gallerie dell'Accademia has among others some of the most important drawings of Western culture, including "The Vitruvian Man" by Leonardo.
