Gallerie Estensi - Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo

Sassuolo

The current appearance of the building took shape in 1634 when the ancient and massive castle was transformed into a ducal residence, a prestigious place used during the summer and as the official representative office of the court. The commissioning of the reconstruction and decoration of it was given to the Duke Francesco I d'Este. The Palace, also called “Delizia” due to its embellished architecture with fountains and green surroundings, the beautiful décor of the rooms and the successful position in the wide valley of the Secchia, it is a true jewel of the Baroque culture of Northern Italy.
