24th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM)
Museums and cultural landscapes

The ICOM General Conference meets every three years with the international museum community to discuss a theme chosen by professionals in the sector. For the 24th edition, the theme is “Museums and Cultural Landscapes”. The theoretical framework is that designed by the innovative conception of landscape expressed by the European Conference of Florence (2000), and makes reference to the relationship between museums and the territory, a relationship entirely typical of the history of defence and development of Italy and very dear to the Italian museum community.
The conference programme envisages high profile interventions on subjects concerning the professional activity of the international museum community, scientific debates between the international committees of ICOM, workshops on this particular case study, events and collateral activities, an institutional fair where it is possible to present museum project and products, as well as tourism and cultural activities before and after the conference.
After signing an agreement with the Italian committee of ICOM, the Ministry of cultural heritage and activities and tourism is taking part in the scientific and operational organisation of the General Conference in Milan.
