On the 7th of July 2016, the Italian Minister of cultural heritage and activities and tourism, Dario Franceschini, and the Italian Minister of Defence, Roberta Pinotti, signed the Framework Agreement for the valorisation and promotion of the Italian military museum heritage. The Directorate General of Museums is responsible for liaising with the Ministry of Defence and to monitor the implementation of the Agreement.
The Italian military museum heritage deserves to be known: a valuable collection of testimonies of the commitment and the value of many generations who contributed to the birth of Italy and its social, cultural and democratic development.
A brochure about 15 military museums in 8 different Italian cities (available in Italian) has been published and distributed at Pinacoteca di Brera (Milan), Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant’Angelo (Rome), Museo Nazionale del Palazzo di Venezia (Rome) and Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna (Rome).
